Seattle public artist Norie Sato, and landscape architect and urban designer Barbara Swift
have been invited to lead a VIP networking program to explore how
global issues and change are manifest through art, architecture,
landscape architecture and urban design in contemporary and historic
culture in China.
In this unique opportunity, Norie and Barbara
will bring together Chinese artists, art professionals, designers, city
planners, and cultural and environmental thinkers with their North
American counterparts to exchange ideas and establish both professional
and personal connections.
Explore how the
rapidly changing Chinese city is seen through ancient & contemporary
Chinese art, culture, design and urban systems with exciting exchange
opportunities to:
Meet Chinese artists, cultural thinkers, curators, gallery owners,
planners, urban and landscape designers, and experts where they live and
work.
Engage with professionals and educators involved in urban design,
transportation planning, integrated sustainable strategies, and
interdisciplinary work with artists, and those who work in innovative
ways with city structures and the environment. Meet public officials
involved with urban redevelopment, artwork, open space planning and
design, and city building.
Enjoy lectures and informational exchanges fostering in depth
understanding of how these two cities are integrating the traditions and
city life of the past with that of the future.
