Matt Crane leads American Artists in Industry to China

At the invitation of the China Workers’ Center for International Exchange (CWCIE) in Beijing, sculptor Matt Crane will lead a VIP networking program supported by the Chinese Government.

Crane will bring together Chinese artists and industry with their North American counterparts to exchange ideas and information, make personal connections, explore opportunities to produce and exhibit works of art internationally, learn about artists in industry in China, and explore opportunities for artists residencies. Matt Crane studied art and design at the Kansas City Art Institute and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the sculpture department in 1995. Since then he has lived and worked in Brooklyn, New York. With the creation of an arts and architectural metals studio he has fabricated sculptures and architectural metalwork for many New York galleries, hotels and residences. His artworks have been exhibited nationally, and he has been featured in magazines such as Architectural Digest and Interior Design Magazine.

From 1998 until the present he has also acted as an independent consultant for the Kohler Company Collection of Art, exhibiting and organizing the collection of ceramic and cast metal sculptures. The artworks are on display throughout the Village of Kohler and Kohler Company’s administrative offices, and are created in the John Michael Kohler Art Center’s Arts/Industry Program.

Crane also travels widely and has spent time in Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, France, Africa, and England. Most recently he has been invited to be a visiting artist at the Oklahoma State University in Stillwater OK, and the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, IN.
